Key Stage 2 Exam Results - Ealing Primary Schools

The results for Ealing Borough primary schools as a whole mirrors the England average closely, although there are wide variations across the borough. The schools in the W5, W13 and W7 areas generally perform better than average at Key Stage 2.

Several community primary schools are currently over-subscribed, and for those schools, children inside the catchment area may not immediately be offered a place at Reception.

Admissions criteria are strictly held to for the community schools, so there's no point in making yourself indispensable to the PTFA or offering large donations to the school in order to help your case, except out of community spirit!

Sometimes it's a case of holding your nerve until the last minute (or beyond, as there is turnover even in the best of schools).

All of the state schools in this part of Ealing Borough have a high percentage of children who speak a wide variety of languages from across Europe and around the world, and whichever school your child attends, cultural diversity is an everyday feature of life and is celebrated.

State Secondary Schools and Sixth Form Colleges

There are 3 state schools in the direct area. Drayton Manor High School was formerly a grammar school and is still popular and confident in its ability to achieve good academic standards. Brentside High School has well and truly shaken off its previous poor image, and is resurging with confidence as a Specialist Arts College, with popular music department and new buildings.

Newcomer on the block is Elthorne Park High School, based in Boston Manor, which has now reached full capacity. The achievements of these schools does not stop some Ealing parents from decamping to the dreamfields of Buckinghamshire once their children hit 11. Other children attend nearby schools outside the area, including Acton High, Ellen Wilkinson, Twyford Church of England, Gumley House and Gunnersbury.

Ealing Independent College is an independent, mixed and selective college based in central Ealing. It provides A level tuition for around 70 pupils, and a range of other qualification-based courses.

Independent schools

There is a wide variety of independent schools in the area. One factor worth considering when choosing your school - independent schools can be under pressure to show excellent academic results, which can result in less academic children being "encouraged" to move on rather than continue into the 6th form. If your child is not likely to be comfortable under academic pressure, you may want to find out what the school's policy is on this score and how well their other talents will be encouraged.
