The Reluctant Runner Makes An Effort

...And finds that early morning is marginally better

Yes, I've been very quiet haven't i?

Well I guess you probably know why. l haven't had much to say because my reluctance to run has pretty much hit peak level recently.

HOWEVER!

I did make an effort one day last week and if you were up early enough you might have caught a glimpse of me pounding the streets, (in my highly reluctant fashion of course.)

I see other runners and they make it look easy, not me though. I huff, puff, pant and pull the most tortured expressions - eliciting looks of pure sympathy from any passers-by.

I guess I probably make a bit of a drama out of the whole thing, and really shouldn't. Running is just like walking but you generally travel a bit faster - although this is not necessarily true in my case.

Anyhow, I got up early, it was nice and quiet and I did run.... a bit. There's always an ongoing battle inside my head and it takes a huge amount of effort to fight the urge to give up. I didn't though - so it was a victory ...of sorts.

The key for me I think is to get up, get out and get at it - to not think about it and just do it. Listening to an audio book was quite a good distraction too so I may try that again.

An early morning run is the best option as it means it's done and dusted, so my aim from now will be to get up with the dawn chorus and run.

Hmm. Let's see shall we?
