Fresh Roti-Bread Donated to Ealing Foodbank

The Ealing Foodbank has recently received a large donation of fresh bread from Ahmadi Muslims living in the area.
They had recently attended the UK's largest Muslim convention, the Jalsa Salana. As part of the "Bread for Britain" campaign organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Roti-bread made at a factory at the convention has been distributed across the country.
The annual convention is a three-day event held by members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community at a pop-up village near Alton in Hampshire that draws over 40,000 participants from more than 115 countries. The purpose of the event is for attendees to increase religious knowledge as well as to promote peace, spirituality and community. The convention is headlined by His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Caliph of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community addressing the congregation on each day of the event. The event is broadcast live internationally and also features faith and civic leaders, parliamentarians and diplomats speaking on the importance of enhancing unity, understanding and mutual respect.
Ahmadi Muslims from the Ealing area have been actively involved in organising this year’s Jalsa Salana which expanded its outreach by the introduction of the "Bread for Britain" campaign, which aims to help address food insecurity by distributing thousands of roti-breads to several different locations across the UK.
The fresh bread, made at the convention's dedicated Roti-bread making factory, aims to symbolise not just nourishment, but also the values of compassion, service, and community.
A local representative of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Ealing said, “In chapter 57, verse 18 of the Holy Quran God instructs us that: ‘As to the men that give alms, and the women that give alms, and those who lend to Allah a goodly loan — it will be increased manifold for them, and theirs will also be an honourable reward’. This clearly highlights the responsibility we owe to supporting our community. The ‘Bread for Britain’ campaign allows us to spread the benefits of the Jalsa Salana to our local community and to fulfil our Islamic obligation. "
