Scouts Given Awards at Greenford Hall Ceremony

115 young people from Scouts GLMW (Greater London Middlesex West) received Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards presented at an event at Greenford Hall last Tuesday (14 May).
The ceremony celebrated Achievement Award winners aged 11-25 from Scouts GLMW for their contributions to their youth group community, where winners received medallions and framed certificates from the Foundation along with a £300 grant for them to spend to benefit their youth group.
In addition, 11 adults were awarded Leader Awards for demonstrating outstanding ability to motivate young people. They each received a medallion and a framed certificate.
Among the winners was 12-year-old Izzy Clement, who was awarded for her dedication in raising funds for the local neo natal units and Harefield Hosptial Pediatric unit. She was born with a small heart defect and as a result dedicated her school holidays raising money, by baking for family, friends and neighbours. Additonally, she is developing a cook book which she plans to sell very soon. In the past year she has raised over £1300 and the money will go towards media equipment for Harefield Hospital, which calms children down before their procedures to avoid the need for sedation. Izzy is soon to be made Patrol Leader, and has recently supported her whole patrol with the Scout Cooking Competition, guiding them to victory with an Italian meal.
Izzy decided to spend her £300 Jack Petchey Achievement Award Grant on a Portable Bluetooth Speaker to take to camps, as well as a set of walkie-talkies, to help run camps safer, and Motorola TLKR T92 Twelve Pack.
13-year-old Jean-Louis Small Wishart has been awarded for his determination. Despite finding the programme a challenge, and having a particular set of learning issues, Jean-Louis has attended every week and has demonstrated a strong, unwavering resilience. At the beginning of 2023 he was awarded the Assistant Patrol Leader position based entirely on merit, showcasing his level of confidence and growth.

Jean-Louis decided to spend his £300 Jack Petchey Achievement Award Grant on a weeklong international jamboree in Essex for the whole troop, as well as a EcoFlow River 2 Pro Portable Power Station.
13-year-old Ellie Fraggos has been awarded for being a role model to all in 1st Uxbridge. She takes all new starters under her wing, ensuring they all find friends to be with. A very caring Scout, regularly raises funds for those in need in the local community, in particular the Trussell Trust, by selling cakes from her garden. Ellie is always looking for ways to share and develop her skills.
Ellie decided to spend her £300 Jack Petchey Achievement Award Grant on tent pliers and pioneering poles for the group.

The Borough of Ealing has received funding of nearly one million pounds from the Jack Petchey Foundation since funding started.
