TVU to run summer art courses in Gunnersbury Park
Anyone wanting to learn about art while helping to save an architectural treasure can enrol in a short course at the Small Mansion Arts Centre.
Thames Valley University is running a selection of short fine art courses at the centre as part of an arrangement to help secure the future of the heritage listed building in Gunnersbury Park. TVU has leased space in the building from Hounslow/Ealing Councils to run classes in painting, drawing and contemporary art studies.
The following courses will run for three hours each week for 14-weeks beginning Monday, April 3. They are open to anyone and cost only £90:
They are all accredited by TVU and can count towards a BA in Fine Art or can be taken simply for enjoyment.
Course coordinator Tony Benn said the stately mansion, surrounded by parkland and once owned by the Rothschild's, was an ideal learning environment for art lovers. These courses are designed to increase the community's involvement in art. They are for all ages and all levels, and can put people on the pathway to a degree education in fine art.
