Martin Bridger Ealing's Borough Commander Receives Commissioner's Commendation
Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir John Stevens, awarded Detective Chief Superintendent Martin Bridger a Commissioner's Commendation for outstanding leadership and detective ability throughout a complex corruption enquiry. The ceremony was held at New Scotland Yard on 15 March 2004.
Between January 2000 and June 2002, Martin Bridger oversaw Operation Greyhound. This was an investigation into a long-serving detective constable with links to a major drug trafficker.
As part of the investigation, DCS Bridger led a complex undercover operation based at a hotel in Guildford which led to a two-year investigation.
Thousands of statements, documents and messages were logged and investigated. Detailed analysis of the evidence ensured convictions in court when the case went to trial at the Central Criminal Court in June 2002. Four men received prison sentences ranging from 30 months to 7 years.
Speaking at the special ceremony, Martin Bridger said: "I have had an extremely enjoyable day and am proud of what my team achieved".
Father of two from Stoneleigh in Surrey, Detective Chief Superintendent Bridger has been with the Met for over 25 years. He is currently Borough Commander of Ealing.
