Two gripping productions are set to open at The Questors Theatre in Ealing this September, offering audiences a choice between psychological drama and wartime suspense.

The first of these, A Number by Caryl Churchill, runs from 19 to 27 September in The Studio. This award-winning play explores the ethical and emotional consequences of human cloning through the lens of a fractured father-son relationship. Bernard, who believes he is an only child, discovers he is one of several genetically identical individuals created as part of an experiment. As the truth unfolds, the play raises questions about identity, nature versus nurture, and the limits of scientific intervention.

Performances of A Number begin at 7:30pm, with a matinee on Sunday 21 September at 2:30pm. There is no performance on Monday 22 September, and a captioned performance will take place on Thursday 25 September. The production runs for approximately 65 minutes without an interval, and is recommended for audiences aged 14 and over. Tickets are priced between £14 and £24, with concessions available. Booking is available via The Questors Theatre website.

Following this, Strictly Murder by Brian Clemens opens in the Judi Dench Playhouse from 26 September to 4 October. Set in Provence in April 1939, the play follows Peter and Suzy, a couple whose peaceful life is disrupted by the looming threat of war. As Suzy begins to question Peter’s identity and the sudden appearance of unexplained wealth, the story unfolds with the tension of an approaching conflict. Clemens, best known for creating The Avengers and The Professionals, brings his signature style of suspense to this wartime thriller.

Evening performances begin at 7:45pm, with a matinee on Sunday 28 September at 2:30pm. There will be no performance on Monday 29 September, and a captioned performance is scheduled for Thursday 2 October. The production carries an age advisory of 12+, and tickets range from £10 to £24, with concessions available. Booking can be made via The Questors Theatre website.
