A darkly black comedy from the writer of In Bruges, The Banshees of Inisherin and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is coming up at The Questors Theatre.

With a warning that it is not for the faint hearted, the venue is staging Academy Award winner Martin McDonagh’s the Pillowman from Friday 11 October to Saturday 19 October.

In a shadowy totalitarian state, a writer is arrested and interrogated following a spate of gruesome child killings. His connection to the murders? They closely resemble the plots of his disturbing short stories. Are these copycat crimes or is something more sinister at play? And what drives him to craft such dark tales?

This ‘wickedly funny, twisted masterpiece’ which was the winner of the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Play explores the blurry line between truth and fiction, and forces us to ask the question – how much power do stories have?

Martin McDonagh is a British-Irish playwright and filmmaker, the acclaimed writer and director of Oscar-winning film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, In Bruges and recently The Banshees of Inisherin which won Golden Globe awards for Best Motion Picture and Best Screenplay. His work is known for its black humour, grotesque and visceral imagery, and moral ambiguity.
