A stage adaptation of a Georgian novel is to be performed at The Questors Theatre.

Tom Jones, an uproarious comedy that brings 18th-century humour to life, is running from the Friday 24 May to Saturday 1 June in The Judi Dench Playhouse.

The lovable rogue, Tom Jones, navigates the complexities of love, friendship, and society. Filled with mistaken identities, romantic entanglements, and larger-than-life characters, this tale has much in common with a modern rom-com.

Funny and dramatic by turns, Tom’s youthful recklessness brings him not only into the arms of a number of amorous women but also to the condemned cell. Will his true heritage be finally revealed to save him? And will he finally marry his only true love Sophia?

Executive Director Michael Eppy says, “Adapted by Joan McAlpine from Henry Fielding’s classic novel, the cast of 20 talented actors breathe new life into the classic comedy.

“Here at The Questors Theatre we are proud to produce plays that run the gamut from classic to contemporary, from obscure to well known. This adaptation of what many think to be the first British novel will bring a riot of colour commotion and comedy to our Judi Dench Playhouse this summer.”

Performances are at 7:45pm except on Sunday 26 May when there is a matinee at 2:30pm and there is no show Monday 27 May. The play is recommended for those aged 14 and over.
Age advisory: 14+

Tickets, which cost from £10-£20, are available on The Questors Theatre website, or you can or you can contact our box office at 0208 567 5184 and boxoffice@questors.org.uk.

In the Studio there will be what is described as a forceful, feminist adaptation by Ben Power of Euripides classic tragedy Medea.

Medea is wife to Jason. She was instrumental in his quest for the fleece, even killing her own brother. She now lives in exile where she has borne him two sons. When he abandons her for a new wife, Medea faces banishment. She begs for one day’s grace. Time enough to exact an appalling revenge.

It runs from 31 May to 8 June with performances at 7.30pm except Sunday 2 June when there is a matinee at 2:30pm and there is no show Monday 3 June. The production is recommended for those aged 14 and over and you are warned that it includes fake blood.

Tickets cost £10 - £20 with season pass and concession prices available.
