There is good news for fans of Bill Wyman who were disappointed when he was unable to make his scheduled talk at the Ealing Book Festival earlier this year.

He is to return to Ealing where he played during the formative months of the Rolling Stones when the band were regulars at the Ealing Club.

Bass guitarist Wyman joined the Stones in December 1962 and played at a regular Saturday night slot at the basement venue performing their second ever live gig there.

He was due to give a talk at the festival on 13 April but now he will be at Pitzhanger Manor on Thursday 29 August to discuss the early days of the band as well as his book in which he recounts his experiences growing up in London during World War II. The event runs from 6pm to 7pm and tickets can be bought online for £15.

The news comes as the Ealing Book Festival organisers announced the dates for the second ever festival next year. The 2025 Ealing Book Festival will take place across four days from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 April, and promises to pick up where the 2024 festival left off by delivering another celebration of literature, culture, and community. The full programme will be announced in early 2025 when tickets will also go on sale.

Over 1,300 people attended 20 events in the 2024 festival with featured authors including Sathnam Sanghera and John Boyne; Booker Prize-winner Eleanor Catton; former children’s laureates Dame Jacqueline Wilson and Lauren Child; former BBC journalist and director of the Soane Museum Will Gompertz; and Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music who played out the Festival on his electric guitar.

Catherine Jaquiss, Chair, Ealing Book Festival, said, "Having put Ealing on the literary map with the first Ealing Book Festival earlier this year, we have extremely high hopes for the 2025 Festival. We are anticipating an equally dynamic and diverse celebration of the written word in all its forms. The response to this year’s Festival exceeded our expectations and we’re looking forward to again bringing together a wide range of prominent authors, readers and cultural enthusiasts from across West London and beyond to celebrate the power of stories in bringing people together.”

The 2024 festival took place at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery.
