Drayton Court chosen to trial Sky's new 3D service

Sky Sports made television history by becoming the first in the world to broadcast a live football match in 3D and Ealing's Drayton Court Hotel was one of the chosen venues.

A selection of media, fans and industry executives were treated to Man Utd's 3-1 win over Arsenal in full 3D at the Emirates Stadium and at nine secret pubs dotted around the UK all of which had been specially fitted with 3D ready TVs.

The broadcast was a taster of what's to come when Sky launches its 3D service in April. The company intends to deliver at least one Premier League match per week via 3D at no extra cost to viewers who already pick up their HD service - provided of course they're watching on a 3D TV set.

Iain Holden, Managing Director of Sky Business, said, ''We are incredibly pleased to have successfully broadcast the world’s first live 3D broadcast to a public audience in pubs. 3D is a revelation and shows sport in a totally different way and it was great for pubs to be part of this ground breaking occasion.''

Simon Emeny, Managing Director of Fuller's Inns, said, "The reaction of the crowd here at The Drayton Court in Ealing, was amazing. It really does feel like you could be at the ground, although there's a better selection of food at the pub!"
