Poundworld Opens in West Ealing

Tills are kept busy as new shop opens on Uxbridge Road

West Ealing has more than its fair share of bargain basement stores so you might expect the opening of yet another one would be largely ignored. Not so.

Masses of people flocked to Poundworld on the Uxbridge Road today (Thursday 5th November) and manager Sudesh Patel was clearly a happy man. He said:

'' Of course it's going to be busy - people are always curious when a shop opens, but I am confident we will manage to keep them coming back.''

Wasn't he concerned about the number of similar shops in such a small area?

'' No'' he says adamantly, ''competition is good for business, and I'm sure once customers see our store they will come back.''

Julie Martin from Greenford wasn't quite so sure.

'' I think there are too many poundshops these days and it's a shame the big department stores have all gone, but having said that I do like the layout of this one.''

Another customer, Shawne from Northfield Avenue gave the store the thumbs up and said anything that offers good value especially before Christmas has to be welcomed.

Poundworld replaces the vacant Woolworths on the Uxbridge Road and is creating around 50 jobs.
