Ealing Hospital to Be Hit By Junior Doctors' Strike
Patients urged to prepare for bank holiday and industrial action

Patients are being urged to make sure they have relevant prescriptions and check their medicine cabinets ahead of the Easter Bank Holiday.
The holiday coincides with a four-day junior doctors’ strike starting on 11 April which is expected to lead to significant pressure on Ealing hospital, including rescheduled procedures and longer waiting times in emergency departments.
Junior doctors make up almost 50% of all NHS doctors, and play a vital role in providing care for patients. During the four-day strike, hospitals will be doing everything they can to keep disruption to a minimum, prioritising patients who need urgent and emergency care.
Dr Jon Baker, Chief Medical Officer for London North West University Healthcare, said, “The bank holiday is a traditionally busy time, so it is going to be tough. We’re asking patients not to come into hospital unless it is essential.
“As part of keeping our services safe, we’ve had to reschedule planned operations and appointments. We’re really sorry if that’s affected you or someone in your family and will rearrange your visit as soon as we can.
“For emergency care, we’re here if you need us but please think about whether you can get adequate care from your local pharmacy team, who are capable of treating many minor conditions we see in A&E.

“We respect our junior colleagues’ right to strike and hope the two parties can come to an agreement to prevent further strike action.
“We’ll be holding the fort in their absence but expect next week to have far greater impact than during the first strike, so ask for your patience if you need our care during this time.”
