But improvement work will last until March 2010
New street furniture, high-quality Yorkstone paving, extra space for tree planting and improved pedestrian crossings are among the improvements on the way for Bond Street in central Ealing.
In Hanwell’s town centre, both sides of Uxbridge Road will be re-paved, completing the resurfacing of the pavements. New street furniture, a loading bay and stop-and-shop spaces will also be introduced and tree bases will be treated to create a more tidy appearance.
Both projects are being delivered under the council’s £15 million town centre regeneration programme, which aims to renew and refresh town centres across the borough.
Earlier phases of the programme have already taken place in both central Ealing and Hanwell town centre, delivering a range of improvements such as new hanging baskets in central Ealing and the restoration of Hanwell’s clock tower.
Ealing Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, Councillor David Millican, said: "The council’s regeneration programme is giving town centres across the borough a new lease of life. Simple improvements like new paving and street furniture can make a big difference to a town centre and help create the kind of environment where local businesses can thrive and prosper.
“While we will take every possible step to minimise disruption caused by the work, we do apologise for any inconvenience caused to residents and businesses and thank them in advance for their patience.”
The upgrades to Bond Street, central Ealing, and Uxbridge Road, Hanwell, begin today (5th October) and have an expected completion date of 31 March 2010.
