Hounslow Council have sent a letter to residents informing them of a plan to restrict access into Swyncombe Avenue from Boston Manor Road.

The would limit access to buses and permit holders living in the borough of Hounslow on parts of Boston Manor Road, Boston Farm Cottages and Swyncombe Avenue.

It is believed by many that Swyncombe Avenue has seen a significant increase in traffic recently due to the Low Traffic Neighbourhoods instituted just over the border by Ealing Council.

Councillor David Millcan said of the neighbouring council's move, “ This is a direct consequence of residents’ concerns about the increased traffic along their road as traffic drives from side of the Ealing LTNs to the other.

“I have today written to Ealing Council Leader, Cllr Julian Bell, urging him to resist this change, as it will cause severe issues for Ealing’s residents as well as increased pollution due to the extra distances travelled.”

Hounslow Council have asked for views on the proposed measures before they begin a trial of the restrictions. Comments can be sent to traffic@hounslow.gov.uk before Sunday, 17 January.

Residents can visit the low traffic neighbourhoods' page of Ealing council’s website for further information on the schemes it has already implemented.

You can email feedback to TrafficNotices@ealing.gov.uk, or post them to the Highways Service, Perceval House, 14-16 Uxbridge Road, W5 2HL, quoting reference ORD XXX.

An online petition against LTNs in Ealing has been signed by over 11,000 people. A counter petition in support of the new schemes has, at the time of writing, over 800 signatures.
