A landmark event celebrating inclusion and visibility will take place in Southall this September, as Ealing Mencap collaborates with Models of Diversity to host an accessible fashion show spotlighting people with learning disabilities.

The event, scheduled for Friday 5 September at Parkside Yard in Southall, coincides with Ealing Mencap’s 60th anniversary and aims to challenge assumptions about who belongs on the runway. It will feature models from the disability community, members of Ealing Mencap, and advocates of inclusive representation, alongside a selection of designers yet to be announced.

Nik Demetriades, CEO of Ealing Mencap, said, “Our fashion show is about more than clothes—it’s about empowerment, visibility, and celebrating the unique personalities of our members.”

Angel Sinclair, Founder and CEO of Models of Diversity, added, “It’s an honour to collaborate with Ealing Mencap on such a meaningful event. We’ve spent over 16 years pushing for visibility and change in the fashion industry—and events like this are exactly where that change becomes real.”

In addition to the runway show, the evening will include live performances—such as a set by the Me-Time Pop Choir—and appearances by public figures and community advocates. Styled by Marion Oke, the show aims to foster connection and raise awareness of ongoing efforts to make fashion and culture more inclusive.

Doors open at 5pm, with the event running until 8pm. Tickets can be purchased online here.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
