A longtime Ealing resident has been recognised for her exceptional service to the community at this year’s A2 Dominions Making a Difference Awards. Anne Murray, 83, received two honours: joint first place in the Great Neighbour category and the Overall Impact Award, highlighting her decades of support for local residents.

She is a familiar face at the Clayponds Community Centre, where she helps run the weekly food distribution programme. Beyond logistics, she provides emotional support to individuals facing isolation or hardship, offering comfort and continuity to those around her.

With more than 40 years in the neighbourhood, Anne Murray has actively participated in estate inspections and served on resident panels, consistently advocating for the needs and dignity of tenants. Her efforts have ranged from pressing for improved living conditions to pushing for greater choice in home furnishings.

Reflecting on her work, Anne said, “I’ve always believed that if something isn’t right, you speak up. Whether it was helping a family living with damp, making sure someone could get a washing machine, or pushing for tenants to choose their own kitchen colours. I just wanted people to feel respected and heard. These homes may belong to A2Dominion, but they’re lived in by real people who deserve dignity.

“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together. I’ve had great support over the years, and I’m grateful to everyone who listened and helped make things better.”

Julie Brooker, who nominated Anne, described her as a quiet force for change whose consistent presence has helped transform lives.

The awards ceremony recognised nominees from across London and the South who have contributed meaningfully to their communities. Presenters cited Murray's long-standing commitment and compassion as emblematic of the event’s values.

This year’s Making a Difference Awards aimed to spotlight residents and groups working to strengthen communities, with the double honour reflecting the depth and breadth of her impact over many years.
