Ballymore High Street Delayed
Planning Committee decision deferred until next year
The expected decision on the planning application to regenerate the south of Brentford High Street has been delayed until next year.
The developers, Ballymore, made the decision to delay the application (ref P/2012/2735) to allow them to some additional modelling on the cumulative impact of the development upon the local Highways network and the local junctions, as required by Transport for London to further support the submitted Planning Application.
Following advice from LB Hounslow and Transport For London, Ballymore has undertaken to carry out further micro-modelling of the transport effects of the proposals on local junctions.
A Ballymore spokesman said “We are committed to bringing forward the best scheme possible for Brentford. We look forward to a positive decision from LB Hounslow in 2014 once the new studies have been completed.”
Cllr Steve Curran, cabinet member for regeneration at the council, said:
“We are all keen to see the regeneration of the town and whilst it’s disappointing to see the delay, it’s also encouraging that Ballymore are prepared to take a little more time to get all details of the scheme right from day one.
“This pause – and it is only a pause – will mean the developers can make sure they are putting together the best proposals they can in an improving market. It also means that we can continue to discuss the phasing of affordable housing within the scheme which will be of benefit to the local community.
“Any changes to the plans will, of course, be consulted on, so people can have their say on the final proposals that go to planning committee, and I’d encourage everyone interested in the plans to make their views heard.”
It is not clear whether the application will be heard before or after the local elections.
