Operation Trident call for witnesses

Police gave a press conference on Wednesday after a shooting in East Acton on Tuesday night.   Detective Inspector Dave Rock of Operation Trident, the anti-gun crime operation set up to help bring an end to shootings and murders among young, black Londoners, spoke to ActonW3.com at the scene of the shooting. 

DI Rock told us: "A few moments before 10.30pm, two vehicles came up Brassie Avenue from Old Oak Common Lane. They stopped on Brassie Avenue at the junction with St Andrew's Road.  

"Shots were fired from one vehicle to the other. The single occupant of the targeted vehicle was a local man we now know as Daniel Ezra Dennis of Erconwald St, W3. Mr Dennis was 26.  

"He was attended to by locals who came out to assist but sadly died in Charing Cross Hospital where he was taken by the ambulance which attended the scene. 

"The victim was in a black BMW 118 - 5 door saloon.  

"After the shooting, the other vehicle drove up Brassie Avenue towards The Long Drive, according to witnesses.

"We have no description yet of the other car, and no witnesses to the shooting itself. Obviously, we would like as many witnesses as possible to come forward to maximise the information we have.

"This is a quiet residential area. It was only around 10.30pm. I am sure that people would have been up and about, perhaps watching TV and would have heard the gun shots. There will be people who saw Daniel in his Black BMW turn into Brassie Ave.

"This was a targeted attack and we are determined to put those responsible before the courts. We would like anyone with any information about this murder to contact the incident room."

Brassie Avenue, a residential road which runs parallel to the A40, was closed while police searched for evidence.

A post mortem was carried out at Uxbridge Mortuary and established that Mr Dennis died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Locals spoke of being scared to go out at night due to gangs who hang around in the area.
