Tories Pick Their Woman for Local Seat

Angie Bray to be candidate for Ealing and Acton constituency

Angie Bray has been selected for the new seat of Ealing and Acton by Ealing Conservatives. She is assembly member for the West Central area of London, and Leader of the Conservative Group on the London Assembly.

Angie said, "My campaign will start immediately, and I'm looking forward to immersing myself in the issues that matter to local residents, and fighting for the interests of all voters all year round not just at election times".

She is Vice-President of the Kensington and Chelsea Conservative Party Forum and Vice President of Hammersmith and Fulham Conservative Association. She was the prospective parliamentary candidate for East Ham from 1996 to 1997. From 1989 to 1992 she was Head of Broadcasting and Press Secretary to the Party Chairman. Recently she worked as a senior consultant on media matters with a Westminster-based public affairs company. She was formerly a radio presenter and reporter for LBC radio. She has an MA Hons in Medieval History from St Andrews University and a Diploma from the London College of Printing.

The new constituency of Ealing and Acton is made up of the most of the old Ealing, Acton and Shepherd's Bush constituency which is currently represented by Andrew Slaughter. It covers the area of Chiswick which is part of London Borough of Ealing. Under the changes proposed by the Boundary Commission which are to be implemented in time for the next general election, parts of central Ealing will be added to the constituency but the areas within the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham will become part of a new Hammersmith constituency.

Looking at the way the areas voted in the last Council election it is likely that the changes will increase the chances of a Conservative victory at the next election.
