Hanwell Zoo, Gunnersbury Park Museum, tennis and basketball courts are among sites to close across Ealing for the second lockdown.

Ealing Council has confirmed leisure centres have closed as well as all libraries, except Ealing Central Library, which will stay open for ‘click and collect’ services. Current library loans have been extended to December 1 and the home library service will continue to deliver books to households.

Pitzhanger Manor House and Gallery, and community centres – with exception for those offering childcare – are also on the list of closures.

Ealing parks will stay open, including playgrounds, outdoor gyms, car parks, allotments and cafes for takeaway service. The council’s refuse and recycling centres also are open for residents to attend if they book in advance through the council’s website.

Weddings and group citizenship ceremonies have stopped once again, but the registration service remains open for birth and death registrations.

Funerals will also continue in line with national rules, with services limited to 30 people.

Council meetings considered as “non-essential” will be cancelled over the coming weeks.

Council leader Julian Bell said, “This is a hugely testing time for all our residents and I know how difficult a second lockdown will be for everyone over the next few weeks.

“I’d like to thank local people for their continued effort and sacrifice in following the rules, staying home and social distancing as we work together to stop the spread of Covid-19.

“It is vital that we all follow the new national restrictions, which come into effect from Thursday, as we work to cut the rate of infection, safeguard the NHS and protect our friends and family.”

He added: “Some council services have changed in line with government restrictions. Our parks are remaining open but as always, please follow the rules and social distance at all times.”
