A special free event for Dementia Action Week is to be held in the Great Conservatory in Syon House.
Hounslow Council has teamed up with the Alzheimer’s Society to host ‘Living Well with Dementia’ on Tuesday, 20 May.
It is one of a series of events and activities taking place across during Dementia Action Week (19-25 May) to support people with dementia, their families, and their carers. Dementia Action Week is a national campaign to raise awareness about dementia.
Local people affected by dementia can book for free, come along and connect with others. They can learn more about the condition and the support available in Hounslow. The event will also feature dementia-friendly games, interactive workshops, expert talks and opportunities to speak with professionals for guidance and advice. Hounslow's new Dementia Directory will also be launched at the event.
There will be a range of other free events across Hounslow throughout the week, from information sessions with AgeUK and Alzheimer’s Society, to exercise sessions with Lampton Leisure.
Councillor Lily Bath, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Transformation, said, “We have worked with our partners to put on a great programme of events for Dementia Action Week, raising awareness of the condition and helping residents connect with the services they need. I encourage anyone affected by dementia, including family members, friends and carers, to come along and see the great range of support that’s on offer in Hounslow.”

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets. We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more. However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do. For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied.
