Firemen, office workers and general public line the streets
Yesterday's midday silence in remembrance of those who died in the tube and bus bombings of last week was strongly supported throughout the area.
The two-minute silence at Northfields Station on Thursday was marked with a short service during which people sang The Lord's My Shepherd and Amazing Grace, and recited the Lord's Prayer.
Thank
you to Peter Gould for the photo.

"My
son works in Uxbridge Road, Ealing..and told me that the area around the
Fire Station was just an amazing sight as the two minutes silence was
observed. There were many hundreds of office workers on the pavements,
three buses had halted at the kerbside, and 99% of cars stopped..with
occupants staying in their vehicles.
The Fireman were apparently lined up in front of their Station and were
drilled to stand to attention and stand at ease at the appropriate moment.
This immaculate display heralded the Ealing response.
"I've never anything like it" my son said..and he was obviously moved
by the respect shown. He had expected to be the only one on the pavement
..but instead there were "thousands"
