Organised by Stop the War Coalition, 2nd November

Over a hundred people are expected to attend a candlelit vigil in Ealing on Tuesday 2nd November in remembrance of the civilian and military casualties of the war on Iraq. Community leaders, war veterans and members of the public are being invited to bring candles and flowers to lay next to a massive billboard which will list the names of some of the tens of thousands of soldiers and civilians who have died since the invasion. The event is timed to coincide with the US presidential election and hundreds of similar actions around the world, including Sydney, Barcelona and Baghdad. Ealing Stop the War Coalition activist Alasdair Tudhope said,
Since the US-led invasion of Iraq in March 2003, more than 25,000 people have been killed in that country. We now know of the many lies that were told to justify this war. November 2nd will be an appropriate moment to commemorate the soldiers, aid workers, civilians men, women and children who have been killed through the invasion. The occupation forces do not keep a record of those killed in Iraq but others have gathered together the names of some of those who have died.
The vigil will be at 5pm-7pm outside Ealing Broadway shopping centre.
