Theatre Four West Stays on The Straight and Narrow

Charity production at The Questors Theatre next week

Twenty-five years ago, Theatre West Four premiered a brand new comedy by Hounslow-based writer, Jimmie Chinn, which was specially written for this well-established local drama group.

It was a great success in Chiswick and went on to have a West End run, productions throughout Britain, and be performed all over the world.

As a tribute to the late writer, who sadly passed away in 2011, a new production is being staged at Questors Studio Theatre next week, with a per-centage of the production profits being donated to The British Lung Foundation in his memory.

Like many of Jimmie’s plays, ‘Straight and Narrow’ is set in his much-loved north of England. It revolves around Bob and Jeff, who are business partners as well as partners in life, although some of the people around them, including Bob’s mother, don’t necessarily understand what that means. It’s a warm, domestic situation with lots of laughs, but also exposes the sort of difficulties that can beset even the strongest of relationships, especially when everybody’s trying their best to keep on the straight and narrow.

In spite of choosing commonplace settings and everyday characters, the author had a magnificent talent for making the ordinary, extraordinary. ‘Straight and Narrow’ is full of heart and will leave you with a big smile on your face and plenty to think about.

Tickets cost £13 (£10 for concessions) for performances on Tues 8th, Weds 9th, Thurs 10th, Fri 11th and Sat 12th May at 7.30pm, and all tickets for the matinee on Sat 12th May at 2.30pm are just £7.
