Rap star helping spread anti-crime message
Mutah Beale, former member of Tupac Shakur’s rap group “Outlawz”, will host a fashion design competition organised by Ealing Borough Police highlighting youth violence and promoting anti-knife crime messages among local young people.
Following a 1996 drive-by shooting in Nevada in which Tupac Shakur was killed, Mutah Beale, converted to Islam and turned his back on the violence. He now helps Ealing Police to educate and inspire young people to turn away from gang culture and take positive steps towards their future.
The event which is expected to attract over one hundred 11 - 18 year olds will take place on Thursday 3 June 2010, between 10am - 5pm at Trailfinder’s Rugby Sports Club, Vallis Way, W13.
It will provide participants an opportunity to join local police in raising awareness of the dangers and consequences of carrying a knife through their designs. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting victims of knife-crime and street violence.
The event held in partnership with Ealing Council, and the Tallo Youth Centre will also include entertainment from a number of talented young artists from London Borough of Ealing.
