Mock up exercise to test Ealing's response
A major emergency will take place in Ealing on March 12th and you could be a part of it.
Ealing Council is looking for volunteers to take part in a mock emergency exercise at Ealing Town Hall.
The council wants to improve its capabilities to manage emergency incidents and, conducts exercises to ensure response arrangements are practiced and well-rehearsed.
On Thursday 12 March, the council’s emergency response teams will be carrying out a mock exercise and are looking for volunteers to play ‘survivors’ who have been involved in a bridge collapse during a major event, and subsequently are being placed in a survivor reception centre.
The exercise, which will include the police, London ambulance service and other organisations, will run from 9.15am until approximately 2.30pm. Volunteer survivors will have the chance to engage in the following:
• Act out the role of a specific character – to help enhance the exercise
• Undertake as little or as much acting as you wish to keep in character
• Wear torn clothing and apply fake blood, if you wish, both will be provided on the day
• Walk through a ‘dry’ decontamination tent at Ealing Fire Station.
Ealing Council leader, Councillor Julian Bell, said: “We are committed to making the borough safer for our residents and it is vital we know our services will remain robust and coordinate well with those of partner organisations during any emergency. I urge as many local people as possible to take this opportunity to volunteer and do their bit to help us rehearse and test our emergency response arrangements.”
Lunch will be provided on the day. Volunteers will also receive a certificate of attendance from the council.
