Keep them occupied over half-term
Ealing youngsters are in for a treat this half-term with two free tree sessions on offer at Walpole Park on Wednesday 29 May.
Families will be given the chance to explore the world of trees and use them as inspiration to create art work. They will also make their own recycled paper. Children aged between five to seven years old can sign up for the 10am- 12noon slot, while those aged between seven- 11 years old will have their own session from 2- 4pm.
All children must be accompanied by an adult and booking is essential. Places can be reserved by either emailing hughesa@ealing.gov.uk or calling 020 8825 8974.
There will also be free booked-themed craft activities taking place in some of the borough’s libraries over half term holidays (27- 31 May). Check www.ealing.gov.uk/libraries for times and venues.
Greenford Library will have a dinosaur-themed story lab session on Saturday 25 May from 11am-12noon and an interactive storytelling session on Tuesday 28 May at 11am. And on Saturday 1 June, children aged 4- 11 will be able to try bridge building at a weird science session.
Northolt Leisure Centre will be running crash courses in swimming and Elthorne Sports Centre, Greenford Sports Centre and Perivale Park Athletics Track will be helping children to stay active over the holidays with their multi-sport and recreation sessions. Prices start from as little as £2.50 per session with a junior leisure pass.
And teenagers can sign up to free courses in football, cricket, clothes design and 3D art through the Futureversity programme. Places can be booked by calling 0208 825 8226 or going to www.futureversity.org and searching under ‘Ealing’.
Councillor Patricia Walker, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “We have lots on offer for our youngest residents this half term. Many events are free, such as those in our libraries and in Walpole Park, and where there are charges, we have tried to keep them as low as possible. Whatever the weather, there’s something for everyone, young and old.”
