A celebration of women's football is set to being at Gunnersbury Park with an exhibition of the women's game to be held to coincide with the Euros this July.

The displays will cover the history of the sport and the barriers that players had to overcome. It will be held just a short walk from the Brentford Community Stadium, one of the venues for this year's tournament.

There will also be a busy season of music concerts and immersive cinema .

In addition, there will be a wide range of events for all the family across the summer at Gunnersbury Park including a teddy bear’s picnic, a mini beast hunt in the park or even a chance to take up pilates. That’s

Rhyme and Storytime
Friday 1 July, Friday 2 September | 11 - 11.30am and 2 - 2.30pm

£2 per child, booking essential.

Rhymes, action songs, and interactive story book readings for babies and toddlers with their grown-ups. These playful sessions are inspired by the museum and park. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Little Flamingos: Flowers
Friday 8 July | 11am - 12pm

£5 per child, booking recommended.

A search for flowers in the park! How many different ones can you find? Then make your own flowers from colourful tissue craft paper.
Suitable for toddlers and babies who can sit unaided. Spaces are limited. All children must be accompanied by an adult

Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Sunday 10 July | 10.30am - 4pm

£5 per child, book your ticket for the craft and story session

For National Teddy Bears’ Picnic Day, gather your family, your picnic and of course your teddy bear and head down to Gunnersbury Park. A ted-tastic day out with lots of free events including croquet, garden games and a teddy bear self-led trail. There will also be a bear-themed craft and story session for you to book on to, with sessions throughout the day. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Football Drills

Join Abresham Girls FC, a young Afghan and Muslim girls football club for a kickabout. The players will host three training sessions inspired by the Women’s EUROs. Suitable for children aged 7+ All children must be accompanied by an adult

WEURO Fantasy 2022 Football

Meet Active Astrid and Lively Laura for a tour of the new Women’s EURO 2022 exhibition. Design flags inspired by women’s football and think up chants you can use to cheer on the teams. Suitable for children aged 5+ All children must be accompanied by an adult

Little Flamingos: Wash Day Bubbles
Friday 22 July | 11am - 12pm

Come and help with the laundry as the Victorians would (no washing machines here) by singing songs and doing all the actions needed.
Suitable for toddlers and babies who can sit unaided. Spaces are limited so book now to get your place. All children must be accompanied by an adult

Minibeast Safari and Pond Dipping

Offside: Women’s Football in West London & Beyond
5 July - 9 October 2022, Tuesday - Sunday | 10am - 4.30pm

Free, no booking required - just turn up. Discover the history and evolution of the women’s game. Celebrate the diversity and inclusivity seen across local and national teams – from the groundbreaking Black and Asian players of the 1990s, West London’s first football club for Afghan and Muslim girls, Abresham Girls FC, to the first out lesbian team. Explore the role of Brentford Football Club’s Griffin Park in women’s football history and the West London origins of ‘Bend It Like Beckham’. Featuring kits from England legend Kerry Davis, Abresham FC, and Martine Rose’s ‘Lost Lionesses’ shirt as well as interviews with women’s football pioneers including Patricia Gregory and Brentford Football Club’s Rebekah Wiltshire.

UEFA Women’s EURO 2022
5 July - 15 January 2023 | during park opening hours

Free, no booking required - just turn up. 2022 is an important year for women’s football, as England hosts the UEFA Women’s EURO and the Lionesses mark their 50th anniversary. Visit an outdoor exhibition to discover over 140 years of women’s football history and learn about how local people shaped the development of the sport.

Pilates for Beginners

Join Richard Norrington from Prima Pilates for a series of pilates sessions for beginners in the surroundings of Gunnersbury Park. These sessions will focus on abdominal core strength, posture, improvement of balance and flexibility.

Zumba classes to keep you fit in body and mind. Learn fun moves from different international dance styles and rock the dance floor. Suitable for beginners. This class is aimed at over 50s but all ages welcomed. You can attend as many classes as you like, whether just one or the whole series.

Nature Walks & Tours

Return to the Vegetable Garden: What to Sow Now and How
Friday 15 July | 10.30 - 11.30am

£5, includes cost of compost, pot and seeds to take home, booking essential.

Return to the vegetable garden as we approach the end of the season. Come along to talk winter, mulches and compost. You’ll also be sowing veg seeds in pots to take home with you to make the most of the season. This is an introduction to growing your own vegetables, whether you have an allotment, small
garden or just a few pots by the front door.

Gunnersbury Tree Walk

Join a walk exploring Gunnersbury’s trees. Local naturalist, John Wells, will be giving an introduction to the trees. Learn some top tips on identifying trees on sight to impress your friends.
