Weekly Timed 5K Run at Gunnersbury Park

Join other runners every Saturday morning

Parkrun is coming to Gunnersbury park from 29th October 2011. A parkrun is a free 5km timed run, taking place every Saturday morning at 9am for runners and joggers of all abilities.

It is totally free to join and is open to everyone. parkrun events take place all over the UK and have spread as far as Australia, Afghanistan and Denmark. Each event is designed to be a community event led by volunteers and is for all ages (children under 11 must be supervised by a parent or guardian). Gunnersbury parkrun will be the 99th event to start up and the 25th in Greater London.

The Event Director, Arlene Gallagher says ‘Anyone who has attended a parkrun before will know how it brings the community together. All the people involved in setting this up are passionate about running and the benefits it can bring to the community. The chosen route shows the park at its best and will undoubtedly prove popular – we then intend to congregate at the park cafe after the event for a post run tea/coffee’.

This event will be free every week, but you must register just once in advance to receive a personal barcode. After the run, this is scanned and mapped against your time and position for review on the website later in day.  Results can also be sent out by email and text message.

To take part at Gunnersbury park, runners are advised to be at the start line near the car park for a prompt 9am start each week. Further details can be found at: www.parkrun.org.uk/gunnersbury

Please come along and join in at any time, and whatever your pace!

If you are interested in helping out every now and then at this free event, please email GunnersburyHelpers@parkrun.com in order to be added to the volunteer list. Giving one hour back to the community is rewarded with a great chance to meet like minded people and enjoy the local park.

The organisers would like to thank the parkrun HQ team, other parkrun event teams (notably Richmond Park and Wormwood Scrubs), Hounslow Borough Council and Ealing Eagles running club for their help and assistance in making this event possible.
