Ealing Half Announce The Mini Mile

Now youngsters can get running too

A new children's race will feature on the same day as the Ealing Half Marathon (Sunday 29th September 2013).

Open to young runners aged 6 – 11, the Ealing Mini Mile covers a one mile route around Lammas Park, starting at 9.30 am after the Ealing Half Marathon runners have been sent on their way. A total of 250 places are available for the Ealing Mini Mile.

The aim is to not only promote running as a sport that is accessible to everyone but to also get kids and teenagers active on a Sunday morning. With the start and finish of the Ealing Half Marathon being in the park too the youngsters will get to experience the inspirational atmosphere of a big race, and they will also be crossing the same finish line as the half marathon runners.

Event Co-Ordinator Sandra Courtney commented: “We are pleased to introduce the Ealing Mini Mile for 2013, promoting sport and fitness to young people is something that we are passionate about. The Ealing Mini Mile is open to young runners of all abilities, and we are working closely with the local schools to raise awareness of the Ealing Mini Mile. We also expect that a lot of the entries will come from junior members of the local athletics clubs as well as offspring of the Ealing Half Marathon runners who will be in the park to cheer on their Mum or Dad.

The entry fee for the Ealing Mini Mile is £5 per child which includes a medal and a t-shirt for all finishers. Prizes for the different age categories will also be up for grabs and every runner gets their finish time. The race numbers will need to be collected in Lammas Park on race day.

Entry is open now and limited to 250 places, please go to http://www.ealinghalfmarathon.com/ealing-mini-mile for further info and for registration details.
