How Do You Stop Community Decline?

Meeting on Wednesday 19th February

Representatives from West London campaign groups, Ealing Council and the campaign group Local Works will come together on Wednesday 19th February in a public meeting to discuss community decline in the area and potential solutions.

The meeting will focus on the Sustainable Communities Act, a radical law which gives councils and communities the power to work together to get the help they need from central government in the face of economic, environmental, social and democratic decline. The Act enshrines “bottom up” decision-making in law. Ealing Council will be submitting a proposal under the Act to help save community pubs.

The meeting will take place at the Telfer Room in Ealing Town Hall, New Broadway, W5 2BY at 7pm on Wednesday 19th February.

Speakers are Ealing Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Ranjit Dheer, Nick Ferriday (Ealing Friends of the Earth), James Watson (Campaign for Real Ale), and Steve Shaw (Local Works). The meeting will be chaired by Alex Runswick, the director of Unlock Democracy.

All are welcome to attend, and there is no entry fee. Complementary refreshments will be provided.
