The Vikings Are Visiting Brentford!

Brentford Festival in Boston Manor Park this Sunday

The Brentford Festival is back for its fifth year and it’s bigger and better than before. The free festival, organised by the Friends of Boston Manor Park, will be held in Boston Manor Park and starts at 12.00 noon and will be opened jointly by the Mayor of Hounslow, Cllr Paul Lynch and the Mayor of Ealing Councillor Barbara Yerolemou.

If you want adventure then why not try kayaking on the canal, looking at the view from the top of the climbing wall or riding a pony in the meadow..  If you are just looking to take it easy and enjoy the beautiful surrounds of the park then relax in the walled garden where there will be live music and a Pimms tent in addition to the home-made cakes and beverages.

The Hounslow Urban Farm, Robbie the Land Train, a funfair and a record number of stalls for you to browse including a selection of eateries where you can sample a range of delicious food.

For dog lovers there is a chance to enter their best friend into the Festivals Dog Show and see their pooch crowned best in show.

Each year musicians are invited to perform – the response this year has been so great that many bands have had to be turned away even though an extra stage is planned for the walled garden.  A variety of genres is promised to accommodate all tastes.

The Vikings are coming as well. Thorbjorn, Jarl of the Temesvikings says "Our typical show involves an encampment showing how a group of Viking or English (Anglo-Saxon) warriors would have travelled. It gives visitors the chance to learn about everyday life in the Viking age, perhaps try on a helmet or feel the weight of axe and shield, or maybe sample the boardgames of the period. We can add fighting displays that show the weapons and battle tactics of the period, how duels were fought, and so on." The Vikings will be here at 13:45 and 16:00.

Event organiser Linda Massey, said “the Brentford Festival is one of the major community events in West London, taking place in the first Sunday of September come rain or shine.  Each year the event has gone from strength to strength and we are looking forward to holding the most successful and enjoyable Brentford Festival yet.  Please visit www.brentfordfestival.org for the programme.
