A Pint of Your Finest Please

Beer Festival joins up with Ealing Summer

Ealing Beer Festival has officially joined the Ealing Summer Festivals line-up for the first time this year.

The 2013 Ealing Beer Festival will take place on 3 to 6 July in Walpole Park and organisers are promising a bigger event and a wider selection of beers than ever before.

Run by beer-loving locals from the West Middlesex branch of Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), the event celebrates its 24th anniversary this year and will feature 220 ales shipped in from all over the country. Eight locally brewed beers are part of the listing, including ales from new Hanwell breweries Ellenberg’s and Weird Beard.

Ales from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands will also be on offer, along with traditional ciders and perries and a selection of beers imported from America (or brewed with American ingredients) in celebration of the country’s Independence Day (4 July). For those who prefer, a range of English wines will be available.

Burgers, pies, curries and more will keep the crowd’s hunger at bay, while chocolatiers Merry Berry Truffles will be back again to help festival-goers match chocolate to their beer of choice. Live music will keep the party atmosphere going on Thursday and Friday evenings.

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: “Ealing Beer Festival is a natural fit for the Ealing Summer Festivals and it’s fantastic that the event has officially come on board. Like the other summer festivals, the beer festival encapsulates a real sense of community, all while taking place in the magnificent surrounds of Walpole Park.”

Graham Harrison, Ealing Beer Festival organiser, said: “West Middlesex CAMRA is delighted to become a part of the Ealing Summer Festivals line-up and we invite everyone in the local community to visit us to sample a wide range of real ales, ciders, wines and foreign beers. CAMRA encourages responsible drinking, so one-third pint measures will also be available.”

Gates will open at 12pm daily and the festival will run until 10.30pm each night (6pm Saturday). Entry is £3 on Wednesday, £4 on Thursday and Friday, and £2 on Saturday. CAMRA members receive a discount of £1 on all days of the event. You must be 18 years or over to enter and those under 21 years will require proof of age.

The festival’s designated charity, St John’s Ambulance, will be onsite throughout the four-day event.
