Deadline for Acton bus depot objections extended

Residents have until April 28th to fight Ken's plans

Ealing Council have negotiated an extension to the period for residents to make representations to the Planning Inspectorate in relation to the proposed Acton bus depot.

Residents now have until 28 April to persuade the Inspectorate to stop the London Mayor from imposing a depot on Acton residents. Mayor Livingstone appealed to the Secretary of State after the Planning Committee rejected his proposed depot. A Public Inquiry into the depot has provisionally been set for 25 April 2006, and will likely last for four weeks.

Cllr Barbara Yerolemou - whose ward neighbours the proposed depot - said she was pleased that residents had scored another victory, but warned that Mayor Livingstone was determined to have his way and that local people will have to continue to fight him tooth and nail. She said: “The proposed depot is totally inappropriate and will affect residents not just on Gypsy corner, but for miles around. We are facing a Labour mayor who will use every legal option available to him, so it is important local residents use the next few weeks to explain to the Planning Inspectorate why this depot is unacceptable. ”
