Thames Water say customers in west London should be getting water again - although pressure may be low.

A burst main at West Middlesex Golf Club in Southall, caused chaos this morning leaving around 35,000 homes without water and forcing schools to close early.

A spokesman from Thames Water said:

'' "A four foot-wide pipe burst under the 13th hole of Middlesex Golf Club in Southall, west London, this morning.

"This flooded the fairway and a nearby fishing lake, as well as interrupting water supplies to thousands of properties in the TW3, TW5, TW7, UB2, NW2, and NW10 post codes.

"We are now re-routing water from other parts of our network to get the affected customers' supplies restored.

"Our engineers turned off water in the broken pipe at midday.

"They will now dig out the broken section of pipe before replacing it with a new piece tomorrow.

"The repair is set to be completed Friday, and rebuilding the fairway back over the pipe will take around a week after that.

"We are really sorry to everyone affected by this - customers whose supplies were interrupted, golfers who's tournament will be called off this weekend and anglers whose lake has been damaged.

"This is our responsibility. It is our job to put right. And that is exactly what we are doing to do."

Customers in Acton, Southall, Chiswick, Cranford, Heston, Hounslow, Isleworth were also been affected.
