Arrests after police stopped car near Ravenor Park

Three people have been charged after a loaded pistol, cash and drugs were found in a car in Greenford.

Naurin Rasaid, 48 of Fletcher Road, Ealing, Hamza Jama, 19 of Greenlawn Lane, Hounslow, TW8 and Haiden Findlayson, 20 Cedar Grove, Ealing, W5 have each been charged with with one count of conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life, one count of conspiracy to possess ammunition, and one count of conspiracy to supply a Class B drug (cannabis).

They were all remanded in custody to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court today.

A 44 year old man from Ealing was bailed to return to a west London police station in early May.

At approximately 1830hrs on Sunday, 19 April, armed officers, acting on information received, stopped a VW Passat on Ruislip Road, Greenford, near Ravenor Park, and a Ford Galaxy on the M4 junction with Windmill Road.

Officers searched the VW Passat and found what was believed to be a loaded Uzi pistol in the rear passenger seat footwell. It was subsequently confirmed to be a converted Mac 10 machine pistol.

Approximately 10kg cannabis and what is believed to be between £6,000 and £10,000 - which was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act - were stowed in shopping bags on the back seat. They arrested the driver - a 48-year-old woman from Ealing - and , a 19-year-old man from Hounslow who was in the back of the car, on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger lives and possession of cannabis with intent to supply. The Ford Galaxy was stopped as it was seen leaving a street in convoy with the VW Passat before driving off. Officers arrested the driver - a 44 year-old man from Ealing - and a male passenger from Ealing, age 20, on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger lives and possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Detectives subsequently searched three residential addresses - one on Greenlawn Lane, Hounslow, from which they recovered ballistic body armour; one on Fletcher Road in Acton; and one on Cedar Grove, Ealing.
