We've had leaves on the line, the wrong type of snow and now the hot weather is providing another excuse for delays on the train network.

Greater Anglia, which runs trains from Liverpool Street to destinations east of London, announced this week that some services would be suspended and others would not stop at Stratford, the key station for the Olympic stadium, because of the heat.

A Network Rail spokesman said the heat affected the workings of the remaining older overhead cables out of Liverpool Street, dating back to the 1950s, which are in the process of being replaced. He apologised for any disruption.

Yesterday First Great Western , Heathrow Connect , Heathrow Express  were all affected by the soaring temperatures, and commuters had to cope with slow running trains and cancellations.

It's thought high temperatures can affect the workings of the cables.

Speed restrictions have been imposed to and from London Paddington due to the hot weather conditions forecast for today. Because of this, the following changes will apply between 14:00 and 18:30:

• Heathrow Connect trains will call additionally at Acton Main Line - trains may be delayed by up to 10 minutes
• Heathrow Express trains may be delayed by up to 10 minutes
• Trains between London Paddington and Greenford will be cancelled - passengers should use the London Underground or London Buses
• Trains between London Paddington and Bedwyn will run between Reading and Bedwyn only - passengers travelling to / from London should change trains at Reading
• Journeys may be delayed by up to 10 minutes to and from London Paddington

With cooler weather forecast for the rest of the week there shouldn't be too many more of these weather related delays.
