Terror Suspect Disappears from Acton Mosque


Ports and borders notified over missing 27-year-old

A terror suspect last seen at an Acton mosque on Friday is being hunted by police for breaching his Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Measures notice (TPIM) .

Mohammed Ahmed Mohamed, 27, attended the An-Noor Masjid and Community Centre in Acton, on Church Road, on Friday (1 Nov) and was seen on CCTV at around 3.15pm.

The images issued by police showed him leaving with his face totally covered. He has not been seen since.

The Counter Terrorism Command immediately launched inquiries to trace Mr Mohamed and these continue. Ports and borders were notified with his photograph and details circulated nationally. Public safety remains priority.

At the request of the police an anonymity order imposed by a court was lifted on Saturday, 2 November to allow a public appeal.

Anyone who sees Mr Mohamed or knows of his whereabouts should not approach him, but call 999 immediately. However police don't believe he is a direct threat to the public.

Mr Mohamed is described as 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build. He was born in Somalia and was last seen wearing traditional Islamic clothing.

The Home Office has not commented on the incident.
