Funding To Transform Local Spaces

Ideas sought for locations to improve

Ealing Council is asking residents for their ideas on how unloved spaces could be transformed into places for the whole community to enjoy.

As part of the council’s new Transform Your Space initiative, residents are invited to nominate locations and come up with suggestions for how they could be improved. It could be a patch of waste ground which could be turned into a new green space or an outdoor picnic area.

Once people have submitted their ideas via www.spacehive.com/ealingyourspace, they then need to gather support from friends and neighbours in their community.

The successful three projects will be announced in spring 2015 and will share £625,000 of council funding.

Cabinet member for environment and transport, Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, said: “We are giving anyone of any age the chance to transform where they live. All you need is an idea and we will help you do the rest. We want to hear from residents across the borough and help make their area a better place to live.”

“Parents might want to permanently close off a road to create a safe place for their children to play, or a business might want to clear out an alleyway and create more parking for their customers – both are great ideas and there are lots more to think about. I look forward to reading the ideas put forward.”

Project ideas should be submitted to www.spacehive.com/ealingyourspace, by midnight on Sunday, 30 November.
