Special Meeting Called Over Rubbish Fiasco

Tories say questions must be answered regarding the new waste contract

Ealing Conservative Group have submitted a request for a special Council Meeting to discuss the new waste and recycling contract which has seen many streets left uncollected for days on end.

Cllr David Millican, Conservative Group Leader said: “We have asked for a special Council Meeting to discuss the new waste and recycling contract and specifically what went wrong since the launch.

If you ask most people what they get for their council tax, the first thing they would say, is having their rubbish and recycling collected. So to have their rubbish left uncollected for so many days is simply unacceptable.

One legacy left by the previous Conservative Council was a first class waste and recycling service. Labour claimed that the new contract would offer improved services and residents have not seen that so far. In addition, residents now have to pay £40 for a fortnightly garden collection that was previously weekly and more importantly free.”
