New Images Released After Attack Leaves Man in Critical Condition

Detectives investigating the serious assault of a 68 year old man during the violent disorder in Ealing on Monday night have released Images and CCTV of a suspect and potential witness.

The injured man has now been named as Richard Mannington Bowes (below) and police are urgently trying to contact his next of kin.

The CCTV images released shows a man suspected of carrying out the assault. He is described as a black man with a big build wearing a white t-shirt with writing on the front and dark coloured jumper over his shoulders.

Detective Chief Inspector John McFarlane, who is leading the
investigation for the Homicide and Serious Crime Command said:

"Through CCTV we have identified a strong suspect. I know that on seeing these images of him people will be able to identify him. If you know who this man is please contact my incident room. If you are this man in the CCTV, do the decent thing and give yourself up."

Detectives are also releasing a still of a potential witness who was at the scene and may have significant information that could assist the enquiry.

DCI McFarlane added: "We know there were a large number of people in the area at the time our victim was attacked, many involved in the violent disorder.

"The image we have released is of a man we believe was not involved in the disorder but would have been close to the attack of our victim at the time it happened.

"I am appealing to him to come forward and, hopefully, greatly help us with our inquiry."

On Monday 8 August at around 22:45hrs officers in Ealing were dealing with sustained violent disorder in Springbridge Road, when they became aware of a 68 year old man being attacked.

Despite coming under fire from missiles, officers managed to reach the injured man to administer First Aid and ensure the safety of paramedics who attended. The man was taken by ambulance to a west London hospital.

DCI McFarlane said: "I still need the assistance of the community who may have witnessed the attack on this innocent man, to come forward and provide information or images they may have recorded on mobile devices This information could be crucial.
