New Leader for Ealing Lib Dems

Gary Malcolm takes over from Harvey Rose as head of group

Gary Malcolm has become the new Liberal Democrat Council Group Leader in Ealing borough. Cllr Harvey Rose handed on the baton to Cllr. Malcolm this Monday at the first Councillor’s meeting after the election.

The Liberal Democrats made gains in the recent elections winning two more seats including all three in the Southfield ward that Gary Malcolm represents.

He praised the outgoing leader saying that he was someone who always gave him sound advice and picked up on the Council’s 'failings' in areas such as arts and heritage. Cllr. Rose was said to be someone who has made a great contribution to planning policy in Chiswick generally.

Cllr. Malcolm said: “I am ambitious that the Liberal Democrats will make future electoral gains due to the hard work we put in between elections.”

He committed the group to consulting residents properly, treating residents as customers and not as an income and campaigning to get the Council to manage its contractors better.
