Ealing Sends Condolences Following Attack in Nice

Flags over Town Hall fly at half-mast following atrocity

As a sign of respect to the people killed and injured in the attack in Nice on Thursday evening the council has lowered the flags flying over Ealing Town Hall to half-mast.

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of the council, said: “I am appalled at the senseless attack on innocent families enjoying the Bastille Day celebrations last night in Nice. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the families and friends of the 84 people killed and our thoughts are with the injured.

“On behalf of the borough I want to extend our sympathy and solidarity with the French people. Tolerance, understanding and cohesion are our greatest weapons against hatred and terrorism.

“We are flying the Union flag at half-mast over Ealing Town Hall in honour of those who have lost their lives and been injured.”
