Government Approves Ealing's 15 Year Plan

Future for the borough has been laid out until 2026

Ealing Council’s vision of how everything from new housing and jobs to transport and infrastructure should be developed over the next 15 years has been given government approval.

Known as the council’s Development Strategy, it contains proposals on a range of important ideas that will affect everyday life right up until 2026.

It also outlines how we should protect green spaces and our heritage and considers how Ealing fits into the ‘bigger’ London picture. The strategy has been developed over five years and included extensive rounds of consultation with residents to get their views on the development of Ealing.

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of the council said: “The plan affects everyone in the borough and looks at how, where and when we’ll provide new housing, create new jobs, protect and improve our green spaces and heritage, and ensure that community facilities and transport service are provided. We have worked hard to ensure we get it right for Ealing and the inspector’s approval endorses this.”

Councils are legally obliged to submit their development strategy to a government appointed independent inspector before they can be finalised.

The final development strategy will be adopted if approved at a full council meeting on Tuesday, 3 April.
