Gang members targeted in and around Northolt
Ealing Trident Gang unit have arrested 11 people today (Wednesday 30 January 2013) during a major operation targeting gangs in Ealing and part of the Met's ongoing crackdown on gang crime across London.
An operation to target gang activity and their dealing of class A drugs culminated this morning in 10 warrants being executed by 45 officers from Ealing Borough.
A quantity of drugs and a large amount of cash were amongst the items seized by officers as the raids were carried out simultaneously.
Those targeted today are believed to be active gang members who are suspected of various drugs-related offences, including conspiracy to supply drugs.
The majority of the warrants were executed at residential addresses in and around Northolt. Those arrested were between the ages of 21 and 30 years old. All those arrested have been taken to police stations across London where they currently remain in police custody.
Detective Sergeant Chris Jenkins said 'Following information from local residents, police were made aware of individuals dealing drugs and causing anti-social behaviour. This information resulted in us executing a number of warrants today. We hope these arrests go some way to improving the quality of life for local residents and sends a strong message to those involved in drugs and gangs that we are intent of stopping this sort of criminality'.
Officers from the local Safer Neighbourhoods Teams in the area will be carrying out additional patrols in Ealing Borough and neighbouring wards throughout the rest of the day and speaking with local residents and businesses about today's operation.
