Police Warning of Increased Domestic Violence

Extra officers will be in London for the Olympics

Police say extra officers are being deployed throughout London in the run-up to the Olympics and are warning that violence of any sort will not be tolerated.

They want everyone to enjoy this years sporting activities, starting with Euro 2012 and continuing with Wimbledon, The Olympic Games and the Paralympics.

However, Ealing Police say there is often a rise in Domestic Violence and alcohol related violence during such times and they are reminding everyone to be conscious of their actions

Detective Inspector Neil Rawlinson, head of Ealing Borough's Community Safety Unit said:

"We continue to take steps to protect victims of crime and to prevent repeat offending. We will gather evidence from other sources and even introduce hearsay and bad character evidence to bring charges against perpetrators and protect the long term interests of the victims. There are also a large range of support services for victims of Domestic Violence so people need not be isolated.

'This summer will see additional police resources deployed to London Boroughs as part of the Olympic Policing Strategy and we will utilise these officers to see offenders arrested and prosecuted. We encourage people to have a good time but stay safe and stay out of trouble.
