Work on Crossrail at Ealing Broadway Could Be Brought Forward

MP says new station building is likely to start sooner than planned

Crossrail have confirmed that they are looking at plans to bring forward the work on building the new Crossrail station at Ealing Broadway. The plan would be to start the work around one year earlier than originally planned.

Ealing Central and Acton MP, Angie Bray, met Crossrail Chairman, Terry Morgan, to discuss options for speeding up better access to the platforms at Ealing Broadway Station, which has been desperately needed for many years.

Mr Morgan told her that the view of the Crossrail team is that it would make more sense to bring the whole project forward rather than put in one of the lifts planned for the station early. He has subsequently written to her saying “we are planning to advance the station remodelling”.

Angie raised the issue again at an All Party Parliamentary Group meeting on Crossrail to get further confirmation.

Angie says “Getting the long-awaited and much-needed improvements to Ealing Broadway Station has been a major focus of the regular transport meetings I chair with the key transport agencies and local residents’ groups. I know that Ealing Borough Council officers are also engaged in negotiations with Crossrail about getting the work done as early as possible, so I was delighted that Crossrail appear to have heeded our call and confirmed that in the Chairman’s letter to me.”
