Singer Banned After Failing to Pay Hanger Lane Speeding Fine

Former X-Factor winner James Arthur, who currently lives in Brentford, has been banned from driving for six months after failure to pay a speeding fine.

The 28-year-old singer was caught speeding in his Mercedes on Hanger Lane, Ealing in the first half of last year. Police issued a ticket in June but he failed to respond and as a result received a £2,000 fine and a ban. Arthur has received four other speeding convictions over the last two years according to newspaper reports. He had already accumulated 15 points on his licence at the time of the last offence.

The winner of the 2012 X Factor reaching number one with Impossible but subsequently split with Simon Cowell’s management company and claims to have struggled with drug addiction and depression.

He did not attend the hearing at Willesden Magistrates' Court but entered a guilty plea to the offence of not confirming to the police that he was driving. As well as the fine he will also be liable for fees and legal cost.

His representatives have not responded to media requests for comment.
