Crack cocaine user from West Ealing gets minimum term of six years
A convicted child killer from West Ealing is back behind bars after trying to murder his wife in a frenzied attack.
Errol Alexander stabbed wife Dorothy 14 times as she begged him not to kill her in July last year, the Old Bailey heard.
The 48 year old had already served four years for manslaughter in 1981 after hitting and shaking the two-year-old child of a previous partner.
Judge Richard Hayward told him: "It was a terrifying experience for her. It was described as a frenzied attack. You are a dangerous man. You were not so concerned about love for your wife. This was more about jealousy and a need to control her.
"Your marriage had been unhappy for some time. You blamed your wife because she was unfaithful.
"No doubt she blamed your violence and aggression."
There had been two previous domestic incidents during the couple's relationship which did not result in prosecution, the court heard. A crack cocaine user, he has a string of previous convictions for offences including robbery and assault.
Errol carried out his attack after his wife returned to their home to collect her belongings following a row. He produced a knife hidden in his waistband and stabbed and slashed at her repeatedly as she begged for her life.
He later fled and was captured trying to leave the country at Folkestone, Kent. He was found guilty of attempted murder by a jury as well as common assault for earlier punching his wife in the face.
He was given an indeterminate sentence for public protection, with a minimum term of six years.
